Founded by doctors and volunteers in 1998, Community Partners International is a U.S. nonprofit organization headquartered in California, USA. We empower vulnerable communities in Asia to meet their essential health, humanitarian, and sustainable development needs. We focus on communities affected by conflict, violence, and displacement in remote and hard-to-reach contexts and marginalized through poverty and exclusion.
We believe the best way to achieve and sustain positive change is to empower communities to do it themselves. We build strong, long-term partnerships with the communities we serve and a deep understanding of local contexts.
We focus on four countries – Myanmar, Bangladesh, Thailand, and Nepal – where we have developed networks and expertise for over two decades. With your support, we partner with communities to meet their immediate needs and build resilient systems that will serve them long into the future.
Empowerment and localization are hardwired into CPI. Ninety-seven percent of our workforce is from the countries where we operate, and more than 98% is based in those countries. Our footprint in the US is small, enabling us to minimize costs and prioritize local leadership. We invest around 95% of our expenses in programs that directly reach people in need.
