Community Partners International (CPI) is delighted to announce that Linda Smith is returning to the organization as a member of the board of directors, effective September 13, 2018.
Linda has worked with nonprofit organizations for 15 years, including the RAND Corporation, with particular emphasis on field research and program monitoring and evaluation. She spent ten years in Southeast Asia with CPI, leading infectious disease programs. She helped the organization grow from a volunteer-based organization to one that can support evidence-based public health services for hundreds of thousands of people each year. Linda holds a BA from UC Berkeley and an MHS from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.
Confirming the appointment, Dr. Tom Lee, the Chair of CPI’s board, said, ‘I am so pleased to welcome Linda Smith to CPI’s board of directors. During her time with CPI, Linda played an instrumental role in building the capacity of our community partners to push back malaria and other infectious diseases. In recent years, she has continued to provide pro-bono technical advice to our program teams and partners. Her expertise and commitment to CPI’s mission will be a valuable addition to the board.’
Linda Smith commented on her appointment, ‘I am deeply honored to be appointed to CPI’s board of directors. After working for the organization for many years in Southeast Asia, it is a homecoming for me. I am deeply inspired and driven by CPI’s mission to empower Southeast Asian communities to live in health and dignity. I am particularly proud of our unwavering commitment to helping conflict-affected and marginalized communities develop sustainable, community-led services in deeply challenging contexts. I look forward to supporting our teams and partners as we grow and expand our impact.’
