On April 3, the basement of Community Partners International (CPI)’s office in Yangon was converted into a packing station to prepare packages of essential medical supplies for 180 clinics across Myanmar. The packages will help clinics bridge gaps in basic needs and replenish medicine stocks for two to three months as part of COVID-19 preparedness.
The clinics supported by this initiative are operated by 16 of CPI’s ethnic and community-based health organization partners and serve more than 500,000 people in vulnerable communities in Kachin, Kayin, Mon, and Shan States. The packages will help clinics bridge gaps in essential needs and replenish medicine stocks for two to three months.
The packages contained masks, gloves, goggles, boots, non-contact thermometers, pulse oximeters, hand sanitizer, disinfectant, a selection of essential medicines and medical supplies, information materials to raise community awareness of COVID-19, and megaphones to broadcast key messages. CPI mobilized this support as an urgent priority from the organization’s core fund to ensure a rapid and agile response to critical needs in vulnerable communities.
